WhatsApp has been rolling out useful features to the free messaging app in the past weeks. The ability to react to messages arrived for stable users before rich link previews in status was discovered. They’re now working on silent exits in groups after extending WhatsApp groups participants to 512.
The silent exits in groups is still under development, and will arrive with a future update. Perhaps, it’s in the early stages of development, with beta users yet to get the feature. However, the function of the new addition is clear as only the WhatsApp admin will be notified when you decide to leave a WhatsApp group.
Currently, if an individual decides to leave a WhatsApp group, a system message is sent to the group notifying everyone that someone has left the group. It always displays the person’s name or phone number, making it easy for anyone to know who left.
Supposedly, the upcoming “silent exits in groups” will make exiting WhatsApp groups more private. From the screenshot shared by Wabetainfo, only the person leaving a group and the admin will be notified when the feature rolls out.
Silent exits in groups coming to Android and iOS
The feature was spotted in WhatsApp Beta for Desktop, but it will make it to Android and iOS Beta soon. It’s unclear when stable users will receive the feature, but we hope to let you know once there’s a new development.
