Qualcomm has quietly announced a new mid-range Soc. It will power most of the upcoming phones, and we are likely to see it debut with the Redmi Note 14 series. Given the features packed by the newly released SoC, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 phones, will be equipped with the best AI capabilities, Fast RAM, power efficiency, and up to 200 MP camera sensor.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is the successor of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. Surprisingly, there’s no second generation, but we might still see a Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 or anything they decide to name it.
Meanwhile, the latest Chip is built on a 4nm process, meaning better power efficiency. It has four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A55 at 1.8 GHz. The GPU is Adreno 710 and supports both LPDDRX4X and LPDDR5 RAM versions. However, SD 6 Gen 3 phones will only support UFS 3.1 storage. There’s support for Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E.
Smartphone makers can go Full HD+ resolution at 120 Hz on Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 phones. There’s support for up to 200 MP photo capture, while the SoC can handle a single 48 MP sensor for continuous reads, and 32 MP and 16 MP dual sensors.
With phones running Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, you will get improved AI performance for tasks. These include activity tracking and noise cancellation on calls. In addition, you get Quick Charge 4+.
Of course, the SoC supports 5G connectivity, and with that, you get up to 2.9 Gbps peak download speed. Meanwhile, the maximum video playback resolution is pegged at 4k@30fps.
