Only a handful of eligible Android 15 phones have received the update. Google is already working on the next iteration of its OS upgrade – Android 16, to increase adoption. Speaking of that, Sony has started rolling out the stable Android 15 update to eligible users.
Unlike Samsung and Google which promise seven years of Android OS updates, Sony offers three Android OS updates and four years of security support. The Sony Xperia 1 VI debuted last year with Android 14, meaning it’s eligible for Android 15, which is now rolling out.
Sony Xperia 1 VI Android 15 update
There is not much to the update, as suggested in the changelog. Perhaps only a few customizations that arrive with stock Android 15 are heading to Sony phones with the release of Android 15.
Meanwhile, the update is rolling out with version number 69.1.A.2.78. Aside from bumping the Android OS version to 15, the security patch level has been moved to November to increase system security and stability.
The rollout seems to be live in multiple regions and while you are expected to get a prompt notification, you can check for it yourself. Head to Settings>>About phone>>Build number. If the update is already available, the system update icon will appear in the status bar. You can check the source link for further information.
