It has been over four months since Google officially announced the stable Android 15 update. The tech company started rolling out the upgrade to eligible Pixel phones immediately and swiftly completed the rollout. They are currently testing Android 16, expected to arrive on the stable channel in August, a few months after Galaxy phones start receiving the stable Android 15 update.

Samsung is known for rolling out the new Android OS updates after the official Google release. Things have taken a different route since the stable Android 15 release, as the company does not yet have an official timeframe for the release. The latest report suggests the company might have become the old Sony as the much-anticipated update is tipped for April release.
Even Sony, known for their delays in rolling out new OS updates, has been rolling out the Android 15 update since it was released. Samsung, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to have a clue when the update will start rolling out. That seems like it, as they would have announced it during the unveiling and are now backed up by the latest report.
According to Tarun Vats, Samsung is planning for a fourth, fifth, and sixth beta release. These builds are expected in February, March, and April, respectively. We might see the stable release in May or before, but considering beta tests are never straightforward, Samsung users might wait till June before getting the One UI 7 update.
Interestingly, only the Galaxy 24 series are testing the upgrade, meaning the stable release will start with them. Other phones might be looking at July or August for the update, by that time, Google will be rolling out the stable Android 16 update.
What is causing the delays in releasing stable Android 15 update based One UI 7 for Galaxy phones
We believe Samsung is making some user-facing changes, and that takes time. Also, there have been issues with already released beta builds, which the company plans to fix with the fourth beta dropping this month. They probably need a fifth and sixth build to ensure everything is running smoothly before rolling out the update. Perhaps the delays are caused by a few things that need to be working perfectly fine, and the company needs time to sort them.
