It is now widely known that Google has a habit of losing track of unannounced hardware components. Many of the company’s devices have been found in various locations far in advance of their official release. With the supposed Google Pixel Fold, history is repeating itself.
The latter is the company’s first foray into the foldable market, and it is expected to ship later this year. Interestingly, one individual claims to have not only seen a rogue Pixel Fold but also managed to record one on camera.
Further details on the supposed Google Pixel Fold
Onetaketeo, a Reddit member, submitted a pair of photographs shot in the New York City subway that appear to show off the supposed Google Pixel Fold in all its splendor. The images were then reported by 9to5Google in a special article. Although the photographs are quite indistinct, one of them appears to be good enough to notice a resemblance between the mysterious foldable and the renderings of the Google Pixel Fold that were released a few months ago.
The Reddit user also claims to have seen the foldable’s camera bump, which is a defining design feature of the Pixel range. This is also why they assume the smartphone in issue is the unannounced Pixel Fold.
Given how poor Google is at preserving secrets, this leak should be regarded with a grain of salt. The smartphone in the images might be the Pixel Fold, although other non-Samsung foldable resemble the one photographed by the Reddit user. Well, Google I/O 2023 will be held on May 10th and might be the location for the formal presentation of the supposed Google Pixel Fold. At the very least, we may anticipate an update or a teaser.
