According to the Big G, Google, the Google Pixel 7 series is said to be equipped with the best photo and video quality yet on Pixel, thanks to the Tensor G2 chipset. We noticed a few sleek cameras features present in the lineup, however, the brand isn’t done. The latest Google camera update brings whole new settings for the Macro mode on the Google Pixel 7 Pro.
Further details on the latest Google Camera update
The Google Pixel 7 Pro came with version 8.7.165 of the Google camera but this latest Google Camera update bumps the version to 8.7.250. With the previous version, Google enabled the Macro mode automatically, “Camera uses Macro Focus automatically when taking photos at a close range.” It is then enabled in Settings by default, also, you can get Macro Focus by entering 2x zoom.
If you take the Google Pixel 7 Pro close to an ant, the lens is immediately switched and the smartphone enters Macro mode – although you will notice a yellow flower that turns the mode off temporarily when you tap on it.
This latest Google camera update tweaks the settings a little. The toggle is no longer present on Settings, instead, you can access it via the drop-down menu(by swiping down or tapping on the top left pill). On swiping down, the Macro focus is auto and tapping on “off” disables the feature. However, tapping on the icon that is slashed sets it back to Auto mode.
“on” will keep the Macro focus enabled. So, the bottom line is the Pixel 7 Pro now has a traditional macro mode (that is, it can be enabled and disabled at any time). Meanwhile, 9to5google mentioned that the double tap action can no longer be enabled or disabled although it still works.
The Double tap action helps you switch between the rear and front-facing cameras and also between 1x and 2x zoom – it has been removed on the Pixel 5 and 4a 5G as well.
