Unlike iOS, Google Android OS adopts an open-source system, which makes it possible for OEMs to make additional customization using their Android skin. Xiaomi is one of the major OEMs that has come along with its in-house MIUI Android skin, with the current version still receiving some optimization and new features even though the next one in the works.
The latest MIUI 12 closed beta update, as usual, brings slew of new features. This time, the camera app UI has been revamped, while some cool features have been added to improve the user’s experience. Some of the features include “beautify for video calls.”
Another new feature that comes with the build is a new camera panel. It’s now possible to choose between the “More” tab and “More” panel in the camera app to arrange the camera modes. The More section of the camera UI now has new styles and revamped icons, which further improves the user’s experience.
Unfortunately, while all the devices participating in the testing will receive the latest MIUI 12 closed beta update, only those running the new Android 11 operating system will get this feature; a new camera panel.
That said, only a few Xiaomi phones will receive the function for now since the company has only upgraded very few of its devices to Android 11. Nevertheless, we expect other eligible phones to start adopting the new OS very soon, with many of them already testing the update either internally or in a public beta. And when that happens, they’ll probably receive these new features.
It’s still unclear if these new features will make it to Global users because Xiaomi treats Global users differently when it comes to features they make available to them. Time will tell surely, and we hope for things to be different this time.
