Xiaomi might be weeks away from introducing the next iteration of its MIUI Android skin, but the closed beta test for MIUI 12.5 is still ongoing. On a daily/ weekly basis, a new update is released for these groups, exclusively in China. Each build comes with a new feature and system improvement as Xiaomi looks to polish MIUI and free it from all bugs. The company even set up a Pioneer Group that’ll work with users to address these issues. As expected, work is only underway, and the first problem to fix according to the group is heating issues.
The company plans to address the heating issues faced by many Xiaomi phone users. They’ll look to give the user the ability to select between balanced and performance modes. Of course, the feature will arrive via OTA, and we have seen its seed for the Mi 11 units in China. It was expected to arrive on other phones over the next few days, and that’s what’s happening at the moment.
With the latest MIUI closed beta update, Xiaomi has added the Performance and Balance mode to the battery saver layout. As seen in the above image, the latter conserves power while the former consumes more power. Hence, depending on the phone operation, you can choose mode that best fits. And obviously, the performance mode is for intensive users (gamers) and will make the phone warmer, while the balance mode is for normal users. It seems flagship phones are the ones getting the latest addition, but we expect a wider rollout soon.
However, only closed beta group members have received the feature so far. It’s expected to expand to stable ROM users in the coming weeks, perhaps with MIUI 13. Xiaomi is believed to introduce the next iteration of MIUI in August and might arrive with some of these features. That said, you should stay glued to our website as we unfold the possible MIUI 13 features.
Note: you can download the latest security app from the ‘source’ link. However, you need to be running Chinese ROM to get the feature. Also, it seems Xiaomi is solving the heating issues for the flashing phone just yet,and hence, you shouldn’t feel disappoint of you don’t see it under Battery Optimization after upgrading.
