For some time now, owners of the Redmi Note 10 Pro / Max have been complaining of some issues that have to do with the screen. The screen brightness is believed to be unstable when the refresh rate is at 120Hz. That’s a known issue and the company some days ago promised to reduce it in the next OTA. According to reports, Xiaomi is currently pushing a new Redmi Note 10 Pro / Max update, which seems to have fixed the flickering issue, perhaps, has reduced it.
The latest Redmi Note 10 Pro / Max update is rolling out for both global and Indian users. However, it seems the “screen flickering” issue affects the units sold in India as only the build rolling out in that region has ” screen brightness wasn’t stable at 120Hz refresh rate in some cases” on the changelog. It also pushed the Android security patch level to April 2021 to increase system security, among other new features and changes.
Meanwhile, according to feedback from the Telegram channel, the new update has fixed the flickering issues. At least, at the time of this writing, we could confirm the problem has been fixed for those running the new build. Also, Display Tinting has reduced, the proximity sensor works better now while the overall performance has greatly improved. Of course, it’s a “stable beta” release, and as such, will only arrive for few selected users for preview. You might have to wait for the stable release as those who tried to sideload the ROM gets an error message “the ROM is intended for internal testers.“
That said, you’ll need an authorized Mi Beta account to flash the build successfully, other than that, you’ll have to wait for the OTA. The update will arrive on your Redmi Note 10 Pro as MIUI 12.0.14.0 RKFMIXM in a 249MB package. Those in India are receiving a stable MIUI 12.0.10.0 RFKINXM update.
