Tecno’s latest concept, the Phantom Ultimate rollable phone, is making waves in the smartphone world. This innovative device showcases Tecno’s vision for the future of mobile technology. Let’s take a look at what we’ve got.
What’s with the Tecno Phantom Ultimate rollable phone concept?
The Phantom Ultimate is a rollable smartphone, similar to Tecno’s Vision V concept, but it differs by omitting the folding feature. It can extend its display from 6.55 inches to an impressive 7.11 inches in just 1.2-1.3 seconds. This transformation is made possible by a single-drive motor system, which activates when you press a button located on the top right side of the phone. When in its rolled state, it functions as a standard 6.55-inch smartphone, while the additional screen on the back operates as an Always-On Display.
The display itself is a 7.11-inch On-cell LTPO AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2,296 x 1,596 pixels and a pixel density of 388 PPI. While these specifications are challenging to verify in a concept device, Tecno claims it offers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage.
In terms of design, the Phantom Ultimate rollable phone is 9.93 mm thick at the base, allowing for comfortable one-handed use. It features a textured rear for improved grip and protective glass for the sliding portion of the phone.
However, the disappointing news is that the Tecno Phantom Ultimate rollable phone remains a concept, with no immediate plans for a market release. The development of rollable smartphones faces technological challenges that need to be overcome, and it’s uncertain how long it will take for such devices to become a reality. Nevertheless, Tecno’s concept offers an exciting glimpse into the potential future of mobile technology, where flexibility and versatility are key features.
