With more Galaxy phones released into the market, the less support the older one gets. Luckily, Samsung has a support period for all its phones, making it easy to know when a device has received its last guaranteed update. As such, it’s probably time to say goodbye to your Galaxy A21s, as Samsung has stopped supporting the phone.
Samsung released the Galaxy A21s in May 2010, running Android 10. For entry-level phones, it’s four years of support, during which two Android OS upgrades are released. The device got an Android 11 update with One UI 3 in 2021 and Android 12 with One UI 4.1 in 2022 to complete the promised OS upgrade.
Since 2022, the device has been getting monthly security patch updates, but with the May 2024 release, it has exhausted its support period. The company is not obliged to release an update to the device, but it can in some situations.
How can the Galaxy A21s get an update from Samsung?
Samsung removed the Galaxy A21s from the list of supported phones after the May 2024 security patch release. They will only release a new update if there is a critical security vulnerability. However, it rarely happens, and even when it does, only premium phones get such an update. We think it’s time to upgrade to a new Galaxy phone or flash a custom ROM to continue getting security patch updates.
