Pixel users are experiencing some issues since the installation of the January security patch which arrived weeks ago – precisely Bluetooth and Android Auto issues. A few fixes were made available via the January security patch on pixel smartphones, however, Google has tampered with some things hence the Bluetooth and Android Auto issues.
Complaints of Pixel phone users following the Bluetooth and Android Auto issues
First off, the Bluetooth. It was noticed that Bluetooth was no longer working on car systems after the installation of the update was done. Users took to the Reddit platform via a thread to narrate their experiences and ordeals. One of the users noticed a message like “Problem connecting. Turn the device off and back on.” Seeing this message, some users tried some troubleshooting steps – like resetting their car’s system, re-paring Bluetooth, and resetting network settings entirely – but all was futile.
The exact cause for the problem hasn’t been pinpointed but since the issue came after the January security patch, one can put two and two together and see that the update is the culprit. Even more unfortunate, the issue seems to be the same with all the car brands, that is, users of Nissan, Volvo, Honda, Toyota, Kia, Subaru and the likes are experiencing the same issue. Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 users were the dominant people laying their complaints on the platform, it could be that the issue is not for all Pixels.
For Android Auto, there’s a general connectivity problem and it came in after the update as well. Well, for this issue, a troubleshooting step is clearing cache and data from Play services and Android Auto apps. That said, Google should be quick to attend to the Bluetooth and Android Auto issues as it’s jeopardizing users’ experience.
