Are you still waiting for the HyperOS 2 update? You might not get it

Xiaomi has updated its EOS list. This confirms some phones will not get the HyperOS 2 update

Xiaomi is still rolling out the Android 15-based HyperOS 2 update. While some users still expect the upgrade, the company has just updated its EOS list, meaning some phones will miss out on the much-anticipated upgrade.

hyperOS 2 update

Xiaomi started rolling out HyperOS 2 last year in China before introducing it to global users early this year. The update has been rolled out to eligible users. While some people are waiting for the upgrade, there is a chance you might miss out on the update, as a new set of devices just made it to the EOS.

EOS (End-of-Support) means the device on the list will not receive new updates unless in a critical situation. We have seen Google release a new update to the Pixel 4a to address battery issues, albeit the device has stopped getting updates. Unfortunately, we have not seen such happen for any Xiaomi phone, but maybe.

Nevertheless, the Chinese company recently updated the EOS, adding about ten phones to the list. Moving forward, these phones will stop getting updates. Interestingly, if you are using these devices and yet to get upgraded to HyperOS 2, you will not receive the update. You might upgrade your device to a new one or switch to a custom ROM.

Xiaomi phones to stop getting updates (HyperOS 2 update)

  • Redmi Note 11 SE
  • Redmi Note 11S 5G
  • Redmi Note 11S
  • Redmi Note 11
  • Redmi Note 11 5G
  • POCO M4 Pro
  • Redmi Note 11 5G
  • POCO X4 Pro 5G
  • Redmi 10C
  • Redmi 10 2022

What does it mean for these Xiaomi phones?

We have seen smartphone companies review their support policies. This means updates are crucial for smartphones, helping them run smoothly and protect them from security flaws. With Xiaomi adding the above handsets to the EOS list, your device will stop getting new updates, making it vulnerable to attacks.

We recommend upgrading to a new Xiaomi phone. However, Xiaomi supports its phone for four years maximum. Have that in mind when purchasing a new one so you go for a newly released device like the Redmi Note 14 series.
