Whatsapp, one of the most used social media in the Metaverse, has been getting a lot of tweaks recently and we think the Meta boss isn’t done just yet. There’s an upcoming Whatsapp feature that will let you hide your online status.
The update will be available via the Google Play beta program after which the version bumps to 2.22.16.12. Sources had already related sometime three weeks ago that a feature that will allow you to hide your online status on Whatsapp is coming to both Android and iOS. But it seems the time is drawing very close as it’s under development and will be available soon.
Looking at the screenshot obtained from sources, on moving to Privacy setting>Last Seen, you’ll be provided with an option with “everyone” and the “same as last seen” as a way to decide who sees your online status. Picking “same as last seen” sets it to the people already allowed to see your last seen.
Assuming you had picked “my contacts except” for your last seen, then the same will apply to the online status. Sadly, as mentioned earlier, it isn’t currently available but it should be coming in very soon.
Hide your online status Whatsapp feature, not the only new Whatsapp feature
The Meta boss released the Thumbs Up, Red heart, Face with Tears of Joy, Face with Open Mouth, Crying Face, and Folded Hands Whatsapp message reactions. Coupled with the increase in the group members’ limit by a factor of 2 alongside the rollout of new security methods to avoid Whatsapp scams. The voice note on the status feature together with the animated heart emoji is still expected and will be disbursed soon.
