The Meta boss, Mark Zuckerberg, has been seen playing with one of the Meta platforms yet again. We’re speaking of Whatsapp – one of the most used social media apps – which has since received a lot of interesting features. So what’s new “again”? We have the WhatsApp Multi-device support arriving in the beta channel.
The WhatsApp Multi-device support, otherwise known as the Companion mode, will help users connect their smartphones or rather their Whatsapp accounts to secondary devices, either another device or a tablet. On rolling out the WhatsApp Multi-device support, that will be bumping the version of the app to v2.22.21.6.
Currently, users can just connect their accounts to an Android tablet via QR code scanning, nice to hear we’re getting an enhancement. For the beta testers – who are relatively few – you can try out the Companion mode by navigating to the Linked devices section in your WhatsApp settings, after which you scan the QR code on your tablet.
Ensure you have a good internet connection though unless the process wouldn’t kickstart, to begin with. Once the process is successful, you can use your account on the connected tablet. Speaking on expanding the availability, wabetainfo mentioned that the feature is still in the development phase and will be rolled out widely once it’s stable.
Alongside WhatsApp Multi-device support
The WhatsApp Multi-device support, Companion mode, joins the other interesting features that have been long rolled out to this software. Mark Zuckerberg rolled out the Thumbs Up, Red heart, Face with Tears of Joy, Face with Open Mouth, Crying Face, and Folded Hands Whatsapp message reactions. We also got to see animated heart emojis, new privacy control settings, increase in group members’ limits among some precautions to prevent Whatsapp scams.
Not to mention the screenshot blocking for View Once messaging and the ability to leave a group without alerting the members except the admin. That said, these two features are still in work just like the undo message deletion feature. Whatsapp is sure getting interesting features, not surprising for one of the most used social media platforms.
