WhatsApp has been testing many features for the WhatsApp app to improve user’s experience. The latest voice transcribing feature was first spotted by WABetainfo on a beta update released to iOS users. Android users seem to be getting the same feature with the new beta release.
Those that installed the latest WhatsApp beta update with version number V2.24.7.8 received support for voice transcribing. With the feature enabled, you can transcribe a voice message into text without playing it. That will come in handy when you are in a noisy environment without your earbuds.
According to the screenshot posted by WABetainfo, you will get a notification to enable Voice transcribing once it becomes available. For now, only those participating in the best test are getting the feature, and we hope it makes it to a stable channel soon.
A pop-up saying, “Read before you listen with transcripts.” “To enable transcripts, 150MB of new app data will be downloaded.”WhatsApp uses your device’s speech recognition to provide end-to-end encrypted transcripts.”To download the required resources, tap the download button and the voice transcribing feature will be enabled.
When will I get the WhatsApp voice transcribing feature?
Before the feature is released for everyone, there’s always a series of tests, which is what the company is doing now. After testing, they will start rolling it out in batches, region by region. Unfortunately, we do not know when that will happen, but we hope to learn more in the coming weeks.
