WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. It has over 5B downloads with over 2B active users. The app has seen some improvement in the past few months. Unfortunately, some of these new features mean support for older devices is dropped, as these phones can’t handle WhatsApp anymore.

WhatsApp to stop working on these phones

Unlike many messaging apps, WhatsApp becomes outdated after a few months, meaning you must update the app to continue using it. This means that if WhatsApp stops supporting your device, it becomes impossible to continue using the app. And with the recent crackdown on Mod WhatsApp, there is currently no way to continue using WhatsApp if support for your device has ended.

According to a recent report, Meta will stop supporting over 35 smartphones across Android and iOS. Currently, to install WhatsApp on Android phones, you need to be running at least Android 5.0 and iOS 12 on iPhones. Hence, if your device runs an OS below the mentioned operating system, you should consider upgrading to a new phone.

Of course, we understand some of these phones running old OS are still good, which is where installing a custom ROM is useful. There are many third-party ROMs you can flash on your Android phones to get the latest Android OS. This will ensure you can keep running WhatsApp on your device. Unfortunately, iOS users do not have this privilege, meaning they must upgrade their devices.
