The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is finally here after many leaks had surfaced before now thereby building anticipation. While we weren’t quite certain of what to expect from the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, the smartphone is a reality now as the features have been confirmed by sources. Here’s what we know.
Features of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra
Starting from the camera, we’ve got four cameras at the rear. The primary camera features a 50MP 1-inch IMX989 sensor and a 23mm optically stabilized lens with a physical, two-step aperture that allows for the shallowest depth of focus (read blur or bokeh) at f/1.9 and f/4.0 for a sharper image. The sensor bins 1.6 million pixels 4-to-1, yielding 12.5MP pictures with 3.2 million individual pixels.
The other three cameras all employ the new 50MP IMX858 sensor, which has a 1/2.51″ resolution. They include a 75mm f/1.8 OIS 3.2x mid-range zoom, a 5x 120mm camera with a brighter f/3.0 lens, and a 12mm f/1.8 autofocusing ultrawide with 5cm macro focusing capabilities. The 13 Ultra also has a 2x 46mm and 10x 240mm mode choice, thanks to in-sensor-zoom technology. The front-facing 32MP f/2.0 camera has fixed focus and will bin pixels 4-to-1 for final 8MP images.
While the hardware integration of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra camera is from the collaboration with Leica, it didn’t end there – yes, there are some other interesting features. To begin, there are two camera color science modes, similar to other Leica-branded Xiaomi cameras – Leica Vibrant and Leica Authentic.
Then there’s the new 50MP UltraRAW mode for the primary camera, which offers 14-bit DNG files with built-in multi-frame sharpening, noise reduction, and dynamic range adjustment for more customization. Adobe will supply a Lightroom camera profile.
Fast Shot mode is a handy tool designed specifically for budding street photographers. It enables you to eliminate focusing time from a photograph by choosing a specified focusing distance. Fast Shot will then take a snapshot in 0.8 seconds.
Onto the display, The Xiaomi 13 Ultra has a 6.73-inch 3200x1440px AMOLED screen with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz. According to Xiaomi, the panel has a maximum brightness of 2600 nits. The phone is equipped with the newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. It will be available in 12/256GB, 16/512GB, and 16GB/1TB UFS 4.0 storage configurations.
Equipped with a 5000 mAh battery, you can charge up using a 90W wired charging or 50W wireless. Then there are Xiaomi’s Surge P2 and Surge G1 custom chips to monitor battery life and charging. Lastly, on pricing, The Xiaomi 13 Ultra (available in Black, Olive Green, and White) was available for presales in China from April 21.
