Xiaomi has introduced its latest flagship phones to the global markets. As usual, the phone packs many features, and with the Snapdragon 8 Elite under the hood, the device will be unstoppable. However, many people are interested in when the device will stop getting supported, and it seems Xiaomi has added an extra year.

Smartphone companies are reviewing their software support period to prove how phone build quality has improved over the years. Samsung and Google are offering seven years for their top-of-the-line flagship. Unfortunately, Xiaomi will not be matching that, at least not with the latest flagship phones. However, the company will now support its flagship phones for six years.
It’s an improvement when you remember that Xiaomi 14 series phones are eligible for five years of software support. In that period, the devices will get four Android OS updates and only security patches in the last year. With the new update policy, flagship phones will probably get five generations of Android OS.
Details of Xiaomi 15 series software support period
Xiaomi has only confirmed the number of years it will support its new flagship phones. There is no official confirmation on the number of Android OS updates, but we believe it will be five. We hope to confirm the number when the device gets listed on the Android Enterprise Recommend list.
Meanwhile, we know Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra will stop getting updates on 2nd March 2031. From 2030, which is probably when the devices will get their final Android OS upgrade, it will be just security patch updates.
How often will the Xiaomi 15 series get updated?
Unlike Samsung and Google, which release a new update monthly for their flagship phones, Xiaomi phones average 90 days. The company is working to change that, but we will see when updates start arriving for the phones. They are likely to roll out updates in the next couple of months, but that will dry up after a while.
Nevertheless, if you are a Xiaomi enthusiasts planning for an upgrade, the Xiaomi 15 series is definitely a phone to look at. With the Find My Device app, you can locate the device when it gets lost or stolen even if it’s switched off.
