The stable Android 12 is yet to start arriving on Xiaomi phones a few weeks after the official release by Google. That’s understandable, given that OEMs need time to test this build and make it compatible with their apps. As expected, they have since started Beta tests, which have been met with some setbacks. Xiaomi Android 12 build, especially, has some frustrating bugs, and luckily, the company has been working on a fix. Going by the recent report, they have optimized the build ahead of the stable release.
It’s a known fact that MIUI is buggy, especially with new major upgrades. The company is currently working on fixes for the buggy MIUI 12 update, and for that reason, is rolling out the Enhanced Edition of MIUI 12.5. We won’t see the same for the Xiaomi Android 12 build. However, the company will roll out multiple Betas builds to correct the underlying bugs affecting its users. And as expected, they’re working on that, and hopefully, we will see a stable release in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, most Xiaomi Android 12 build issues are related to compatibility. The reason is that most third-party applications haven’t fully adopted the new Android OS. For example, the Chinese Douyin App (Chinese version of TikTok) crashes. That seems to have been addressed by official feedback from the app developers. Users are advised to update the app to verify the optimization.
Also, users experience other issues like full-screen dimming, constant restarting of some scenes, delayed notification, and even hard-brick. Xiaomi, to address these problems, has partially optimized the development version of MIUI. The optimization is part of the latest release, and users are advised to update the latest version for verification.
Some problems of Xiaomi Android 12 build
- After the Android 12 development version update, there is full screen dim as well as hovering notifications
- Android 12 development version brings constant restarts for some scenes
- The microphone is abnormal in some scenarios, especially on the Xiaomi Mi 10/Pro
- The Android 12 development version app store frequently prompts the need to open permissions
- The dark mode of the development app store/Xiaomi community is abnormally inverted
- After the development version restarts, the widgets occasionally disappear
- The development version of QQ/WeChat/Alipay, etc. open slowly
- The video/voice of the development version of WeChat and other third-party apps is very low.
We expect Xiaomi to address all these issues before rolling out the stable version. And given the pace at which they are doing it, we expect the release of the stable Xiaomi Android 12 build before the end of the year. Of course, premium phones of the year will get the update before extending to higher and lower mid-rangers.
