Google couldn’t wait for May to start rolling out the Android 13 beta update, and we expect OEMs, including Xiaomi, to participate in the beta tests. The Chinese company, before the release of Android 13 beta 1 already has plans to adopt the Tiramisu, which is the codename of the new Android OS (Android T). Hence, we expect the Xiaomi Android 13 beta test announcement in the coming days.
With the Android 13 beta 1 release, Google introduced some features while focusing more on privacy and security. There have been some visual changes to the Media controls. Google has revamped the media progress bar with squiggly lines for the elapsed part. Also, they’ve enabled the option to control smart home devices from a locked screen.
The Google Android 13 beta 1 makes it possible to switch screen resolution, and it’s believed to improve battery life. You can switch from 1400p to 1080p by navigating to Settings>>Display>>Screen resolution. Of course, there are other features, and we hope the Xiaomi Android 13 beta test enables them for Xiaomi phones.

From past events, Xiaomi 12 series phones would participate in the beta tests. We also expect the Redmi K50 series and the POCO rebrands to participate. However, it’s unclear when Xiaomi would start rolling out Android 13 beta or recruiting users for the test, but that’s likely to happen next month.
Google plans to reach platform stability for Android 13 in June, meaning there won’t be any changes moving forward. Perhaps, that’s when the Xiaomi Android 13 beta test will commence, with the stable version expected in August. We hope to learn more about the Chinese company’s plans in the coming days.
