With the release of the Android 16 Beta update by Google, smartphone companies are expected to start testing the build. So far, there has not been an official announcement, but we understand Xiaomi has begun testing the upcoming Android OS. It’s still an internal build, but it shows the company will be rolling out the update on time once again.
Xiaomi was among the first companies to start rolling out the stable Android 15 update to its eligible phones. With the commencement of the Android 16 beta testing, the Chinese company is in line for an early release of the upcoming OS.
Three Xiaomi phones are testing the Android 15 update – Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 15 Pro, and Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro. They will probably become the first handsets from the company to get the update when it becomes available for the public.
When will the Xiaomi Android 16 update start rolling out
According to Google’s release plan, the company will reach platform stability in March, with the final build expected in August. We expect Xiaomi to start organizing a public beta release in March. Nevertheless, it might be earlier, given that the company always releases a beta update after the Beta 1 build from Google.
We are still months away from the update becoming stable for the public. We will probably see a stable version in October. Perhaps the Xiaomi 16 series will debut the new Android OS, which will be based on HyperOS 3. There’s a report that it will be integrated with HyperOS 2.1, but we doubt it.
However, we have seen the build being tested, and they are based on HyperOS 2. This means the company has yet to start developing HyperOS 3. It will be easy to switch to a new iteration of HyperOS once the build is more stable.
