Xiaomi Announce Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro in India

Finally that day has come and Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro in India. The event which was held in India saw the prices for both phones revealed, with Redmi Note 5 starting from 9,999 INR which translates to about 155$. For the Power house Redmi Note 5 Pro it will sell from 13,999 INR, which translates to about 218$.

 

The Redmi Note 5 Pro made it global debut today in India, featuring The same 5.99-inch display panel as the Redmi Note 5, but there is an upgrade in the processor with Snapdragon 636 chip, Octa Core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz, coupled with Adreno 509 GPU and 4/6GB RAM, along with 64GB internal memory storage.

Coming to the back of Redmi Note 5 Pro, featured the first ever dual camera arrangement for Redmi Note series device. The dual sensor consist of 12MP main shooter, f/2.0 aperture lens, while the sub shooter for making bokeh effect has a 5MP sensor and f/2.0 aperture lens. For the front facing camera shooter, there is a big surprise from Xiaomi with massive 20MP sensor, accompanied with LED flash light.

Onboard the thin body of Redmi Note 5 Pro is a 4000mAh non-removable battery, but the surprise thing there, is the presences of outgoing micro USB port and again there is no fast charging technology. Out of the box, the phone will run MIUI 9 ontop Android Nougat 7.1.2.

The Redmi Note 5 launched with face unlock feature is the first for any Xiaomi phone, and it will be available in colors of Black, Gold, Rose Gold, and Blue.

The Redmi Note 5 is a replica of Redmi 5 Plus – Check our review here. It measures 158.5 x 75.5 x 8.1 mm , weighing 180g and will be available in 3/32GB and 4/64GB memory configuration. Out of the box, the phone is running MIUI 9 base on Android Nougat 7.1.2. The camera is 12MP primary shooter with f/2.2 aperture, while the secondary sensor has 5MP shooter with selfie spot light.

Inside the 8.1mm thick body of the Redmi Note 5 is a 4000mAh battery, with no fast charge technology and over a micro USB port. You will be able to choose from Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, Blue, and Black color variants.
For pricing and availability: the Redmi Note 5 Pro is currently priced at 13,999INR for the 4/64GB memory version, while the 6/64GB RAM version is priced at 16,999INR. Redmi Note 5 is selling at 9,999INR for the 3/32GB version, while the 4/64GB version sells for 11,999. Availability of the phone is still unknown.
