It’s that time of the year when we see speculations about the next iteration of Xiaomi Android skin. The Chinese company moved to HyperOS from MIUI last year but will continue with the latter’s release pattern. Hence, we believe the Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 release date has been confirmed, given the recent reports.
Xiaomi is rolling out a minor upgrade to eligible phones in the form of HyperOS 1.5. The update is based on Android 14, meaning Android 15 will arrive with HyperOS 2.0. We understand developers already have access to the build, given the time frame for the release, which is now all but confirmed.
Xiaomi HyperOS 1 arrived in Q4 last year, starting in China. We expect the same release plan this year as a new report suggests that HyperOS 2.0 will debut at the same time as HyperOS 1.0 last year. Xiaomi will probably release its next iteration of HyperOS on the first anniversary of the first one.
There are not many rumors about the possible HyperOS 2.0 features, but we don’t expect a major overhaul. Xiaomi will focus on improvement and bug fixes, just as they are doing with the HyperOS 1.5. However, we hope to learn some of the supposed features of the upgrade in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, only select phones will receive the update. Xiaomi phones that have elapsed their support period will not get the update. Fortunately, it’s now easy to check if your device will get a new iteration of HyperOS instead of guessing. You can use this link to check whether your device is eligible for HyperOS 2.0.
