With the release of the stable Android 16 update, Xiaomi has intensified work on the release of HyperOS 3. We have an idea when the company will release the build, but the features have been scarce. Luckily, a new report has revealed details of the upcoming iteration, reiterating when it will be released.

Xiaomi, in the past few years, has released a new iteration of its HyperOS in October. It is also the date for the release of the company’s latest flagship phones, and it seems the company will continue that route. The latest report suggests HyperOS 3 will arrive in October, with Xiaomi 16 or whatever the company decides to name the device. Additionally, we now have an idea of the features it will bring to supported phones.
Xiaomi HyperOS 3 device support
Xiaomi has loads of phones in the market, and it can be confusing to keep up with them. However, any flagship launched in the last two years will get upgraded to Android 16 with HyperOS 3.
The company’s support policy is pegged at 4 years of Android OS updates and 5 years of security patches for most phones. Unfortunately, it’s not consistent, as some phones are excluded, but we expect a detailed release plan when the update becomes official in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, we are more interested in the features HyperOS 3 will bring. It does not seem to be a big upgrade, given the reports so far. The company will keep improving animation, and performance and resolving bugs. Of course, there will be some tweaks to refine the UI and some security enhancement.
Xiaomi HyperOS 3 features
The latest report suggests Xiaomi will be making some UI tweaks with HyperOS 3. The Wi-Fi and signal indicator will be redesigned, as well as the battery icon. App icons will get a new look.
Wi-Fi and Signal indicator tweaks
It’s no secret that Xiaomi copies iOS. With the release of iOS 26, the company will be making some changes to its UI in reference to that. The Wi-Fi and the signal indicator will ditch the thin lines for a more bolder one.
Battery Indicator
Xiaomi will go for an opaque battery design in HyperOS 3. Currently, the battery icon is transparent, but it will change with the release of HyperOS.
App icons and UI element
In HyperOS 3, it will be hard to know you are not running iOS. Xiaomi seems to have copied the Glass UI element. The search bar has disappeared from the home screen to create additional space for apps and widgets.
We understand HyperOS 3 will be available for over 90 Xiaomi phones. Of course, POCO and Redmi phones are included. Unfortunately, there is no official release plan yet, but as always, the rollout will commence in China. We expect an official list in October, during the announcement.
