Xiaomi has always presented a new iteration of MIUI in December for a couple of years, but things are taking a different route this year. The Chinese tech company has announced the release of its latest Android skin – HyperOS. It will debut alongside the Xiaomi 14 series, which will run the new OS outside of the box.
Xiaomi has scheduled a product launch event in China. They will release the Xiaomi 14 series with the new HyperOS. The device will debut with the new OS pre-installed, making it the first Xiaomi phone to run it. We expect availability for other devices to be announced during the October 2023 event.
Meanwhile, HyperOS isn’t an entirely new operating system, as it keeps the MIUI design, but there have been a few tweaks. The screenshots we have seen show the new OS is a name change. You might not notice any changes unless you look closely, perhaps when you compare with MIUI side by side.
While we don’t expect a major UI overhaul, Xiaomi HyperOS will likely come with an improved animation, which is where MIUI was behind the competitors. But until the new Android skin makes it to a phone, that’s when we could say if the animation has been optimized, and luckily, we won’t have to wait long.
Xiaomi 14 series to debut pre-installed with Xiaomi HyperOS
Xiaomi 14 series will debut with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, expected to arrive on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. It’s likely to run Android 14 on top of the HyperOS, as Xioami looks to tie the new OS with the latest Android OS. We hope to learn more about the flagship phones, especially the Summilux camera lens being advertised by the company. Also, if animation has been optimized with the HyperOS.
