Xiaomi HyperOS is not a finished product yet, as the company continues to add new features. Parental Control feature is currently available on most Android phones, and the Chinese company seems to bring it to their phones with HyperOS.
With many social media platforms available now, your kids can get carried away. As a parent, part of your duty is to make sure they use these platforms properly. And how you do that is by monitoring their activities and how long they use social media.
Currently, Xiaomi phone users use Parental Control apps to monitor their kid’s social media usage. That’s probably going to end soon as the company has started working on a parental control feature for HyperOS.
According to Kacper Skrzypek, Xiaomi is currently working on “their own Parental controls.” The new addition is coming to European HyperOS ROMs. It was detected in the Settings app that rolled out a few days ago with a build (2.9.9.86). Xiaomi has added a new option called “Parental controls.”
Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to see how the feature would block apps due to missing code. However, Kacper believes Xiaomi might have copied Google’s Family Link. It’s unclear when the feature will be available, perhaps it will be part of HyperOS 1.5.
We hope to learn more about HyperOS Parental Controls in the coming weeks. It will be interesting to know whether the feature will be available for everyone or only those in Europe, according to the report.
