It’s still unclear if Xiaomi will continue naming its flagship device serially or follow the path of Samsung. An early report suggested Mi 21, but we don’t see the need now as it would have made more sense if it had happened last year. Well, it’s still Mi 11 for now till Xiaomi says otherwise, and according to Digital Chat Station, the device will debut the Snapdragon 875 SoC in China with some exclusive privileges.
Xiaomi will probably debut the Mi 11 in the first quarter of next year, which is when premium phones of the year start hitting the market. As a flagship phone, it’s expected to deliver top-notch performance, which only the Snapdragon 875 SoC that’ll be built on a 5nm node will offer. Xiaomi, like always, will first debut the SoC in China, and According to Digital Chat Station, there’s an exclusive period.
If the report is true, here is what it means. During the exclusive period, other OEMs are not allowed to debut a smartphone with the Snapdragon 875 Octa-Core processor in China. It is also said that Samsung will also be given the same privilege in the global market, and that will be a big advantage, but we’ll wait and see how it turns out.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 is also said to take a different design approach compared to the predecessor. Going by the renders on the internet, the device will have a waterfall display, and surprisingly, a squared edge. There is no cut-out on the screen, and hence we expect the introduction of under-screen camera technology. The rear camera sits nicely in a rectangular camera bump, but thats probably not the official render.
Again, the Xiaomi Mi 11 will debut Q1 next year, which is a couple of months from now, and we expect to start seeing more renders and official images. We will be on the lookout and will update this space once we get more information about the upcoming Xiaomi flagship device.
