Xiaomi Android One updates might have their flaws but have remained consistent over the years. Every month, all the eligible device launched under the program receive security patch update to improve their system security and performance. For months, the update keeps coming for the Mi A2 Lite, but it looks like the support has ended. It has been two months since an update arrived for the device, which could mean that Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite support has ended, but we do be surprised.
According to Android One Policy, every device released under the program is eligible for two Android OS upgrades and “at least” three years of security patch support. That makes the Mi A2 Lite eligible for security patch update till June when you consider the three-year support period. However, it seems that’s not the case, as the device has been without an update for two months now. The last update that came for the device was in February, which bumped the Android security patch level to February 2021.
Unfortunately, it looks like there’s where the journey ends for the device as Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite support seems to have ended. If you’re using the device, you might need to switch to custom ROMs. That way, you can get the latest security patch updates while the Android OS will be on the current version ( Android 11).
Nevertheless, Xiaomi hasn’t officially announced the end of support for this device, but that looks like it. Android One updates are the only consistent rollouts we’ve seen from Xiaomi. Two months without one for a device nearing the end of its support should mean the updates won’t come again. However, we will be on the lookout to confirm if support has truly ended for the device, given that it is supposed to be around June. Maybe the company had a difficult patch with the device and might start rolling out updates for the device soon. Also, the Mi A2 received a patch last month, but not the A2 Lite, which complicated things.
