The last Android One phone from Xiaomi has now joined the long list of End Of Support devices. Xiaomi Mi A3 moving forward, will not receive security patch updates, but there may be circumstances where the company might roll out an update to the device.
Xiaomi launched the Mi A3 under the Android One program in July 2019. Given the A-series policy, the company had to support the device for at least three years. They were also expected to release two Android OS upgrades and monthly security patch updates during that period. Of course, Xiaomi lived up to the billing, but it wasn’t a smooth journey at all.
The Xiaomi Mi A3 had its fair share of bugs, especially after its major Android upgrade. Perhaps, one of the reasons why the A-series lineup was suspended. As expected, the device has joined the long list of End Of Support devices, meaning any form of support has officially ended.
However, there might be a situation where an update is released to the device, but that could only happen if a “serious security vulnerability is discovered.” Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened recently with any Xiaomi phone, so it might be a better time to grab a new device. Perhaps, you can a flash custom ROM, and luckily the device already has Android 13 AOSP ROM.
