Xiaomi is already making plans for the next Android OS release. The Chinese company plans to rollout the update after Google releases the stable version in the coming weeks. They have been testing the build, which might arrive with MIUI 15 for some models. And while the Xiaomi Pad 5 series will receive MIUI 15, there are no plans to release the Android 14 update.
Xiaomi recently tweaked its update policy, promising five years of support and four Android OS upgrades. Unfortunately, the changes don’t include the Xiaomi Pad lineup, as it’s still limited to two Android OS upgrades. Hence, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Android 14 update won’t happen, but the Tablet is already testing the next iteration of MIUI.
The next iteration of MIUI – MIUI 15 – is already under testing. We expect the release in the coming weeks, probably during the Xiaomi 14 unveiling. As always, devices to receive the upgrade are popping up. According to the latest report, the Xiaomi Pad 5 MIUI 15 update will be based on Android 13, meaning the Tablet has received its last Android OS upgrade.
Xiaomi Pad 5 launched in August 2021, running Android 11. It received Android 12 with MIUI 13 and upgraded to Android 13 with a stable MIUI 14 update. Unfortunately, there won’t be further OS upgrades, but expect the devices to continue receiving security patch updates at least till next year.
The devices in the lineup, include Xiaomi Pad 5, Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 5G, and Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro Wi-Fi. If you’re using any of the Tablets, you might want to switch to Pad 6 to receive Android 14. However, we expect MIUI 15 to deliver some of the new OS customizations when it starts rolling out.
