Xiaomi has been rolling out the HyperOS update to eligible users for weeks now. Unfortunately, the company didn’t confirm all the devices that will receive the much-anticipated upgrade, leaving Xiaomi Pad 5 users in doubt. Interestingly, the Tablets have started testing the update, but there’s a catch.
Xiaomi Pad 5 arrived in 2021, running Android 11 on top of MIUI. Over the last two years, it received Android 12 and 13, and while HyperOS is based on Android 14, the Tablet will not get a new OS with the update. That’s not surprising, though, as it has received two OS upgrades, which is the most for Xiaomi devices.
According to Gsmchina, Xiaomi has started testing the Pad 5 HyperOS internally. It means only developers have access to the build, but it confirms the unit will receive a HyperOS update. However, the builds under testing are based on Android 13, meaning that OS support for the Tablet has ended. Also, with that update, Xiaomi will move the device to Quarterly updates and start sending security patches every three months.
When will the Xiaomi Pad 5 HyperOS update start rolling out?
There is now an ETA when the update will start rolling out to eligible users. However, since the build is still under internal testing, we might see the stable version start seeding in Q2 2024. Of course, that can change, and you might want to follow our social media platforms to be updated.
