Xiaomi Tablets were among the first devices to receive the Android 15-based HyperOS 2 update. While users of the Xiaomi Pad 6 were hoping the upgrade would arrive for their units later, the company does not seem to have plans to upgrade the Tablet to Android 15, at least.
Xiaomi HyperOS 2 is based on Android 15, but not all devices eligible for the Android skin will get it with a new OS. That’s the case with the Xiaomi Pad 6, which arrived on the market on April 18, 2023. It has since received an upgrade to Android 14, and it’s looking like this is where the journey ends.
A look at Xiaomi’s Products AER Seal page confirms Xiaomi Pad 6 is listed to get a single OS upgrade. Since the device debuted with Android 13 and currently running Android 14, it means the OS support period has elapsed. Interestingly, the device will continue getting security patch updates until June 2026.
Since the Xiaomi Pad 6 Android 15 is not happening, what about HyperOS 2?
According to reports, the Xiaomi Pad 6 will receive a HyperOS 2 based on Android 14. The Tablet is expected to receive the update in May, but it might be early, depending on the company’s schedule. Until the update starts rolling out, your device will get security patch updates. If you want to install Android 15, flash a custom ROM.
Sadly, the Xiaomi Pad 6 is not getting the Android 15 update while the Redmi Pad Pro will. The latter is eligible for two generations of Android OS, while the former can only get a single upgrade, which was released last year. Unless the support period was reviewed recently, we think the Pad 6 should get Android 15.
