Xiaomi is testing the upcoming Android OS, which will be based on their in-house HyperOS Android skin. The Chinese company won’t release the upgrade to the public till Q4 2024. However, we can confirm some phones that will not receive the upgrade.
Like Google and Samsung, Xiaomi has an update policy that determines how many years of support a device gets. Unfortunately, their support period is inferior to the other two OEMs, as only a few devices are guaranteed four years of Android OS updates. Most Xiaomi phones, including Redmi and POCO, receive two Android OS max, with a few HyperOS upgrades.
As usual, the company has updated its End of Life page to add new phones. These devices will not receive new updates going forward unless a major security vulnerability needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen a Xiaomi phone receive a new update after making it to the End Of Life list. We recommend upgrading to a new phone if your unit is among the latest additions.
Least Xiaomi phones that have stopped getting updates
- Redmi Note 8 (2021)
- POCO M3 Pro 5G
- Redmi Note 10T
- Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G
In addition to not receiving new updates, these phones automatically ruled out from getting the HyperOS 2.0. We understand Xiaomi is currently testing the update while HyperOS 1.5 is being released to eligible users.
To continue receiving updates, you should consider upgrading to a new phone. Interestingly, you can install a Custom ROM to enjoy the latest Android updates, including the upcoming Android 15.
