Over the past few months, Xiaomi has improved the speed of its monthly security updates. While not all phones get the latest patch every month, the company ensures the update arrives for a select few. The Chinese tech giant is looking to make it mandatory for their phones to get monthly updates starting next year.
Xiaomi phones to start getting updates every month
With the switch to HyperOS from MIUI, Xiaomi made a massive leap in its OS performance and stability. They have managed to unify their operating system across all their products. Hence, it is now easy to develop new builds, and the company can focus on improving its monthly security patch updates.
Currently, Xiaomi releases a new build every month, but you are never sure which device will get it. Hopefully, that will change in 2025, as Alvin T, one of Xiaomi’s executives believes the company will be able to do monthly updates from 2025. He failed to give comprehensive details about Xiaomi plans with these updates, but we are sure not all phones will get this treatment.
Xiaomi has many phones in the market, and it will be impossible to send them updates every month. Not even Samsung does that, so we believe select phones, probably flagship devices will be supported with monthly updates. In addition, we do not know when the company will start the new policy, but we hope to find out in the coming weeks.
It is clear what the company has been planning with the switch to HyperOS. Frequent updates will mean faster bug fixes and improved user experience. Hopefully, the company will follow the executive’s word, which will persuade more people to buy Xiaomi products.
