Xiaomi has launched a new mid-range device in India. The Chinese company has unveiled the POCO, a tweaked version of the Redmi 14C. Although Android 15 is already available, the device runs Android 14-based HyperOS 1 outside of the bus. It will soon receive a new OS upgrade, but how many more will it get after that?

Smartphones are capable of staying for years, and with how they have become less affordable, many people want to hold on to their devices for as long as possible. That’s probably the reason for the current trend of phone makers increasing the software support period of their phones. Unfortunately, POCO M7 software support hasn’t changed compared to its predecessor.
Details of Xiaomi POCO M7 update support
Most mid-range Xiaomi phones are eligible for four years of software support. In those four years, they received two Android OS updates, and the remaining two years for security patches. Since the device debuted with Android 14, it will get a stable Android 15-based HyperOS 2 update soon. We expect Android 16 to arrive with HyperOS 3 later this year or early next year.
Those considering the POCO M7 should know they will get only two Android OS updates and four years of security patches. The latter will arrive monthly for a couple of months before it’s moved to quarterly release. Nevertheless, for a phone that costs about $126, you should consider the POCO M7 perhaps as your second phone.
