Although Xiaomi now releases premium smartphones that compete with Samsung and Apple flagships, mid-range phones remain their biggest strength. That seems to be the case with the warm welcome received by the Redmi 12 devices in India.
Xiaomi Redmi 12 5G and Redmi 12 4G arrived in India on August 1, 2023, with the first official sales conducted on August 4, 2023. According to an official report, Xiaomi sold 300,000 units of these phones but didn’t reveal how many of the 4G and 5G models were sold.
Nevertheless, the company is believed to have made about INR 3 Billion ($36 million) in sales during the 28-day period, which is a milestone for them. They have pledged to keep innovating, and hopefully, the Redmi 13 series will bring more innovation.

Xiaomi Redmi 12 4G and Redmi 12 5G have similar devices but different internal due to the network connectivity. The former runs Helio G88 Octa-core SoC while the latter features Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. That affected their prices, with the 5G variant going for INR 9,999 ($120) and the 4G model for INR 11,999 ($145)
