Unlike Apple, that moved to USB-C port with the Apple iPhone 15, Android OEMs have been using the port for years. Xiaomi, however, has continued using the Micro USB on its entry-level devices, but that looks to change with the release of Redmi 13C. Also, we are getting a triple rear camera system this time.
The Redmi C-series lineup is one of Xiaomi’s most popular smartphones under the Redmi sub-brand. With the introduction of a USB-C port and a triple rear camera system, we expect more people to purchase the Redmi 13C when it launches later this year.
Last year, Xiaomi released the Redmi 12C in China in December. It arrived on the international market in March 2023, and we expect the same time frame for the Redmi 13C. However, the device will arrive with some new additions to its predecessor, although the display looks similar.
The Redmi 13C will supposedly feature a primary 50MP camera sensor, the same as the Redmi 12C, but will add one additional sensor to the rear camera arrangement. There’s no sign of the rear fingerprint sensor, suggesting it might have been moved to the side, while the 3.5mm headphone jack keeps its place.
The latest upgrade is the move from MicroUSB to USB-C port. We expect the same for the Redmi 13A and other entry-level devices from the company. Hopefully, we will learn about other features of the device in the coming weeks/months.
