It has been a few months since the official release of the stable Android 12 build. Google first released the source code to AOSP to allow developers and OEMs to get to work. Since then, Xiaomi has been testing the build, and it seems time has come for the stable release. Interestingly, the company might release the update to eligible users with MIUI 13 – the company’s upcoming Android skin.
Xiaomi MIUI skin isn’t tied to a particular Android OS version, unlike other OEMs like Samsung, Oppo, and others. However, with the upcoming MIUI 13, the company seems to be moving in that direction. A handful of their phones are expected to receive a stable Android 12-based MIUI 13 update on December 28. Interestingly, the Redmi Note 10 series Android 12 update might arrive the same day.
According to our recent report, about 10 Xiaomi phones might receive the stable Android 12-based MIUI 13 update after the supposed December 28 unveiling. Among these phones is the Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G, and it will be the first Redmi Note 10 series phone to receive the Android 12 update.
If that’s the case, when would other phones under the Redmi Note 10 series receive the update, and would it be based on MIUI 13? Unfortunately, it’s unclear how mid-range phones will receive the update. However, we anticipate Android 12 and MIUI 13 to arrive simultaneously. Hence, the Redmi Note 10 series Android 12 update will come with MIUI 13.
The rollout, of course, will start in China. And if there’ll be no global unveiling like what happened with MIUI 12.5 Enhanced, then the Redmi Note 10 series Android 12 update will start in Q1 2022. Nevertheless, we hope to learn more after the official unveiling, and you can always check this page for the latest information.
