Xiaomi has debuted the Redmi Note 12 Pro with compelling specs. For the first time, the Note series device features an OIS, an impressive charging speed, a new Dimensity SoC, and retains the headphone jack. As always, the device is well-priced, with the price tag starting at $235.

Redmi Note 12 Pro specs
The Redmi Note series is slowly becoming a powerhouse. It’s on the 12th iteration, and Xiaomi has now added an Explorer Edition. There’s also a Pro Plus and Vanilla Redmi Note 12 variants.
Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 12 Pro has a flat design. It comes in four different colors – Black, Blue, Violet, and White. Around the front panel are a single center selfie-camera and thin bezels. The back houses the triple camera sensors on a rectangular island. There are two stereo speakers – one on the bottom, close to the USB-C port. At the top are the IR Blaster, speaker grill, another speaker grill and headphone jack. On the left frame is a SIM tray, while the right side has the volume rocker and power button.
Redmi Note 12 Pro display
With every iteration of the Note series, there’s always an improvement to the display. While it’s still a 6.67-inch OLED panel and refreshes at 120HZ, the peak brightness has improved. It has a peak of 900 nits brightness while supporting Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and 1B colors.
Redmi Note 12 Pro Performance
Under the hood is MediaTek Dimensity 1080 6nm Octa-core processor, and it’s 5G-enabled. The SoC gets up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Outside of the box, it runs Android 12-based on MIUI 13 and would be among the first devices to receive Android 13 and MIUI 14.
Redmi Note 12 Pro Camera
The camera hardware isn’t impressive. We would recommend the Pro Plus version if your aim is for amazing camera performance. Meanwhile, the primary 50MP sensor is still capable of decent shots. It also supports 4K video shooting, and with the presence of OIS, you get even better pictures. Aiding the camera is an 8MP Ultra-wide and 2MP macro shooter, while the front camera is a single 16MP snapper.
Redmi Note 12 Pro Battery and security
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro is equipped with a 5000mAh battery. It supports 67W charging and will take 46 minutes to charge from 0-100%.
Interestingly, Xiaomi has moved from a side-mounted scanner to an optical under-display sensor. It’s capable of unlocking your device in seconds.
Redmi Note 12 Pro price and availability
Redmi Note 12 Pro price starts at $235 for the base 6/128GB variant. There are 8/128GB and 8/256GB models sales for $250 and $280, respectively. The more premium 12/256GB version retails for $304. All will be available in China from November 1.
