We’re used to a lot of sleek smartphones from Xiaomi (and probably laptops too) but the brand wants to step up its game by entering another tech niche. The Chinese tech giant is set to release Windows PC and one of them looks like tech we’ve not seen before.
The Windows PC was set to be unveiled alongside some other Xiaomi products(hardware and software) by December 1st however, the event was postponed. This is due to the passing of the former General Secretary of the Chinese Communist party, Jiang Zemin. That said, some details of the Windows PC were unveiled to select people and here we are, let’s take a look at it.
What we know of the Windows PC from Xiaomi
We’re getting two PCs, one of which is the Host Mini PC, the mysterious one. It’s built in a small form factor with the 100W XM22AL5X installed in it. We are still unsure if this PC will be taking up some other elements in the box(as time goes on, we’ll know about that or probably at the event).
Meanwhile, photos from sources show the device has support for dual-slot dedicated GPUs on a Mini ITX motherboard. It’s wild to assume how the GPU will work with the 100W power supply, perhaps, there might be some other element in that section or maybe a mechanism around it. At the back of the PC, there’s the mechanical switch(we’re still unsure of its function).
Meanwhile, the other PC from the Chinese giant is the Mac Mini of Intel NUC form factor PC. It’s running a 45W chip with Radeon 680M RDNA2 GPU, a 16GB/512GB memory and will probably debut with $570 as the starting price point.
