Amid the Dragon Boat Festival, which will be taking place in China soon, Xiaomi has suspended the MIUI 12 development for its phones. The suspension will last for one week, that’s from June 26Th to July 2nd. During this time, Xiaomi will suspend all office work, including the deployment of the MIUI 12 update.

Miui 12 development

The MIUI 12 development is expected to resume on July 3rd, and the company will look to start the second phase of MIUI 12 deployment. Among the devices to receive the update include, but not limited to, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 5/Redmi 5 Plus, and Mi 8.

The Redmi K20 series, Mi 9, Mi 9T, and Mi 9T Pro have all received Beta Stable version of the update globally. Also, the Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, and Redmi K30 Pro, a couple of days ago got the update in Chinese. We expect the public rollout to commence after the one week holiday to mark the Dragon Boat Festival in China.

Meanwhile, MIUI 12 development for Redmi K30 Pro will not resume until after three weeks. And the MIUI 12 development for these devices has been stopped. They include Mi 6, Redmi Note 5, Mi 6X, Mi Note 3, Mi Mix 2. And from September 25TH, the following devices will seize to participate in MIUI 12 development; Mi 8, Mi 8 UD, Mi 8 Explorer, Mi 8 SE, Mi 8 Lite, Mi Mix 2S, Mi Max 3, and Mi Mix 3.

Note: Xiaomi will only stop organizing Beta testing programs for this device. It doesn’t mean they will stop receiving updates, but the support in terms of timely updates will greatly decrease. That’s expected considering the number of devices the company now has on its stables. The move to stop the MIUI Beta ROM for these devices will also ease the workloads on developers.
