YouTube has announced a price increase for its premium subscribers in more countries. The move first came to the US subscribers, and now, those in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and South America will be seeing the same increase.
Back in July, Google announced a YouTube Premium price increase for US users, and we knew it was only a matter of time before it extended to other regions. Now, those in Australia, Austria, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Argentina, and Chile are seeing a price increase. As expected, the increase applies to individual, family, and Student plans for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium.
In Europe, Individual YouTube premium subscription is currently at $16.99. It’s the first-ever price increase, at least for those in Australia. Interestingly, the company says those paying a lower rate can only do that for an additional three months, perhaps they plan to increase the premium subscription price in all regions.
Those already subscribed to YouTube Premium will start seeing the new price during their next billing cycle. The development came via an email, with YouTube saying the decision wasn’t made lightly. But to continue improving Premium and support creators and artists creating content on YouTube, changes were made to the price.
