The MIUI 12 closed beta testing has been on for months in China, with the stable version currently rolling out to eligible devices. And having completed the first rollout, the second phase is now live. That has seen Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 7, among other devices receive the stable MIUI 12 update, while the Redmi Note 8 still runs MIUI 11 based on Android 9.
The Redmi Note 8 Android 10 update was expected in July, but for whatever reason, Xiaomi has decided to prioritize other devices. Thus far, the Redmi Note 8 Pro and Redmi 8, have both receive Android 10 while the latter is yet to receive MIUI 12. But we expect the update to start arriving very soon.
And while we’re waiting for either the MIUI 12 or the Android 10 update to start arriving for the Redmi Note 8, the device has just started receiving a new MIUI 12 beta update based on Android 10.
It’s arriving with a version number, “MIUI 12.20.8.6”, and will progressively get to all eligible device. Meanwhile, if you enrolled for the MIUI 12 beta testing, you can download the ROM from the link below. Note: you’ll be wasting your data downloading a 2.0GB update if you don’t have an authorized MI account. It’s better to wait for the stable release, which according to reports, might start arriving from late August or early September.
