Xiaomi launched the Redmi K30 Ultra alongside the Mi 10 Ultra to commemorate its tenth anniversary. The device shares the same design with the K30 Pro but runs a different SoC, supplied by Mediatek. It features a big battery that supports a 33W fast charging solution and will run Android 10 based on MIUI 12 outside-of-the-box. The Redmi K30 shares all the external attributes of the Redmi K30 Pro. From the full-view display, through the thin chin, to the circular camera arrangement at the back. The glossy finish is also exquisite and is being offered in Moonlight White, Midnight Black, and Mint Green colors.

Sitting in front of the front panel is a 6.67-inch AMOLED display. It features 1080 x 2400p resolution and refreshes at 120Hz. The panel can reach 500nit peak brightness and will stream videos in HD quality, thanks to the HDR10+ compatible display. There’s a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protecting the screen from scratch and mild falls.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, which features in the Redmi K30 Pro, is currently the most powerful Android Chipset. It still outperforms the Mediatek Dimensity 1000+ which runs the Redmi K30 Ultra. However, you won’t notice a major difference as both SoC are high-end, but then, ‘Snapdragon‘ means more community support.

The SoC is paired with 8GB RAM and up to 512GB non-expandable internal memory. Outside-of-the-box, the device runs Android 10 based on MIUI 12 – Xiaomi’s latest Android skin.

Behind the camera performance, is a Quad-camera lens, of a primary 64MP shooter. It’s flanked by a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP telephoto macro shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor. The camera can shoot videos at 4k@30fps, while the 20MP selfie module sits on a motorized pop-up. Other features of the camera include Dual-tone Flash, HDR, and panorama.

The device draws power from a 4500mAh battery and supports a 33W fast charging. It takes 58 minutes to charge the device from 0-100%. For security, the device makes use of an under-screen fingerprint scanner, which combines the enhanced privacy protection on the latest MIUI 12 skin to deliver maximum security and privacy.

The Redmi K30 Ultra price starts at $287 ( official price) for the base 6GB/128GB model, while the 8GB RAM variant sites you back an additional $29. There’s an 8/512GB model that starts at $388 and also an 8/256G sold at $360 available in Moonlight White, Midnight Black, and Mint Green.
