When Xiaomi announced the Redmi K30s, the company confirmed that as the last device to debut under the K30 series. They are now focusing on the successor, which is the Redmi K40 series, and just a few weeks ahead of launch, the details of the upcoming Redmi K40 surfaces online.
The latest report about the Redmi K40 is coming from China, and it was Digital Chat Station that broke the news. According to him, the device will feature an OLED straight screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will ditch the dual punch hole on the predecessor for a single centered one for the selfie camera.
While the latest leak of the upcoming Redmi K40 focuses on the front panel, early rumors have suggested a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC to power the device. However, looking at the series, it has always been Qualcomm running the vanilla version except for the Redmi K30 Ultra, which was to mark the company’s tenth anniversary.
There’s a strong belief that the device will run the Snapdragon 775G SoC and will feature a primary 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor. Of course, we expect a bigger battery capacity and a fast charge solution of at least 33W.
If the company is going to repeat what happened last year, then we expect the upcoming Redmi K40 device to debut later this year. The Pro model will then arrive early next year, and if that’s the case, we expect to learn more about the device in the coming days.
