It can get confusing keeping up with Xiaomi phones, given their different naming in every region. The Mi 11X is a rebadge Redmi K40 that debuted alongside Redmi K40 Pro and Pro Plus. Xiaomi is also offering the phone as POCO F3 in select markets, with few tweaks due to POCO branding. All debuted running Android 11 on top of MIUI 12, with some frustrating bugs, of course. However, some of them have been addressed with the release of MIUI 12.5.
Xiaomi might not have focused on the stability of its Android skin in the past, but Android 11 isn’t making it any better. All Xiaomi phones that debuted running the current Android OS are facing almost similar issues. For some, the proximity sensor isn’t working, tint issues, third-party launcher problems, notification issues, screen touch issues, and many more. Luckily, there are ongoing plans to address these issues, and with MIUI 12.5, they promised to do just that.
According to reports from those running the MIUI 12.5 update for Mi 11X / POCO F3, some issues are still there. However, it seems the proximity sensor is now working fine for some people after the recent update. As for third-party launchers, there’s still no luck while tint persists.
As for features of the MIUI 12.5 update for Mi 11X / POCO F3, it still needs few touches. One of such features is the “uninstall system apps,” which have been added, but at the moment, you can’t uninstall any. Also, MEMC, a feature that improves video quality, isn’t working, but you “turn on video toolbox under special features in settings” for it to work. We expect the subsequent build to improve and address some of these issues.
Meanwhile, feedback shows the haptic feedback has improved, although that wasn’t on the update log. Interestingly, two more super wallpapers were added, giving your more options, while the Android security patch level is up to May 2021. You can check the changes here, and for additional feedback, follow the Mi 11X / POCO F3 telegram channel.
Note that the rollout is limited to select users and will start arriving for everyone after the preview. If you’re a stable beta tester, it’ll probably appear on your device soon, or you use the links below and download.
