Xiaomi MIUI is one of the best Android skins out there, and the company has continued to make improvements. With MIUI 12, they changed how to check the battery health status. Instead of dialing a series of codes, they added the battery health status under battery performance. However, the option doesn’t allow you to see all the important information about your battery health, unlike the old method that lets you see even the charging cycle. According to a report, Xiaomi has added a battery health indicator to MIUI to give a detailed analysis of your phone’s battery health.

New battery health indicator for Xiaomi phones

Smartphone batteries are expected to degrade over time, and according to research, battery life degrades by 80% after 800 cycles. That’s roughly two years. Of course, it’s enough time to enjoy a phone before switching to a new one, but with older phones now getting new features via new updates, some people now hang on to their phone for years. It becomes necessary that users have a way to check their battery health to know when to replace them.

Battery health indicator has been part of MIUI, but only a few details are displayed. You can check your battery health status from Settings >> Battery & performance>> click on optimize. If there’s an issue, you should fix it and after that, scroll up to view your battery health status. There you’ll see the Battery Status as “Working Normally.” However, with the new battery health indicator, the health of your battery is indicated by one of the following: Normal, Good, and Excellent.

Interestingly, when the battery health is low, a prompt notification pops up on the interface. That’ll alert the user to take the device to the nearby service center to have it looked at or have the battery replaced. Unfortunately, only the Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G supports the feature at the moment, but plans are already in place to extend it.
