Xiaomi has turned its attention to MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition with few phones left to upgrade to MIUI 12.5. The Mi 9T is among these phones, and it doesn’t look to be seeding soon. But that’s because Xiaomi is upgrading the device to Android 11 and will start pushing the Mi 9T MIUI 12.5 update to the global users after. Those in Russia are now getting the taste of Android 11, and of course, sans the MIUI 12.5 build.
The Xiaomi Mi 9T Android 11 update in Russia is seeding for Mi Pilots as usual. It carries a software version number – MIUI 12.1.2.0 RFJRUXM. Arriving with that update is a stable MIUI based on Android 11 and a new Android security patch level. That has increased system security and stability while improving performance. However, there are reports about bugs on Xiaomi Android 11 updates, and hence, we recommend a backup before you proceed with the upgrade.
It’s necessary to transfer your data to a safe location before upgrading as this build is a cross-section Android upgrade and might contain bugs. According to early Android 11 adopters, some of the issues they faced after upgrading were fixed with a factory reset. However, you can’t fix the third-party launcher compatibility problem on gestures. Also, chat bubbles turn square after the upgrade and few other minor adjustments. Aside from that, the update is safe, and you should download it when prompted.
As for when the MIUI 12.5 update will start rolling out, there’s currently no ETA. However, we expect the build to arrive on global models soon, given that it has been released in China. To know when the update becomes available in your region, you might want to keep an eye on our tracker page.
