The Xiaomi Mi 9T has been waiting for the Android 11 update for weeks now. We anticipated the build to arrive alongside MIUI 12.5, given that it’s been months since the update arrived in China. Unfortunately, that’s not the case, at least for those in Europe. Xiaomi is seeding Android 11-based MIUI 12 for Mi 9T in that region. It means the stable MIUI 12.5 update will come much later.
Xiaomi is seeding the stable Android 11-based MIUI 12 for Mi 9T in Europe with a version number – MIUI 12.1.1.0 RFJEUXM. The build weighs in at 2.4GB and comes with a stable MIUI based on Android 11. It has bumped the Android security patch level to August 2021 to increase system security and stability. Of course, the update has introduced the features baked inside the new OS – new chat bubbles, Quick settings, and more.
Meanwhile, the update is currently being sent to Mi Pilots for preview. They’ll preview the bug, and if there’s no bug detected, the public will start getting the update. And while we’re optimistic that the update is safe, some functions stop working after the upgrade. You won’t be able to use third-party launchers on gestures while the chat bubbles will turn square.
We recommend that you backup your data before installing the Android 11-based MIUI 12 in Europe. You’d be able to restore the backup if anything goes wrong and you need to perform a factory reset. And yes, early adopters were able to fix a few bugs and glitches with a hard reset. As for when the MIUI 12.5 update will start seeding, there’s no ETA.
